Welcome to 2009…

So, it’s 2009 now. Hooray! Excitement in date form…
What’s going on that’s noteworthy? Oh so many things…
1) People are still trying to impeach Barack Obama - a President who has yet to do anything as President, or even be President yet. In fact, these folks started a facebook group back on November 5, 2008. It not only seems silly to me to threaten to impeach a President before they take office, since, as these folk say, “we might as well get a head start on the impeachment of Obama,” but it also seems to show a certain witch-hunt mentality on the part of the would-be impeachers. Would people feel as free to do this if Obama were white? Probably not. Joy. Thank you, America. Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels like a little bit of soul-crushing in a sea of optimism-in-the-face-of-no-reason-to-be-optimistic.
2) A new comic is coming soon…this week for sure!
3) If only James Brown had done a series of instructional dance videos in the 70’s. This is not enough, but what it is is amazing:

Get down. God damn.
4) Flow charts. For 2009, I think it’s going to be all about flow charts.
5) Boneless Children Foundation show this wednesday (in just 2 short days!) at San Francisco’s Red Devil Lounge! Don’t forget. Yes, it is true that our musician friends Sean Hayes and Michael Musika are playing the same night at the Rickshaw Stop. And that will be a wonderful show, as will ours. But if you want to get your drink on with David, Jon and/or Logan of the Boneless Children Foundation, then you’ll have to go to the Red Devil Lounge… just a fact of life, folks… and as the Firesign Theatre said, “How can you be in two places at once when you’re not anywhere at all?“ And just to remind you, the line up includes:
- An early set by Abs and Babs;
- The Great Sand Waste (lyrical party-time indie pop)
- The Boneless Children Foundation (hey, that’s us! - bombastic, cartoonish indie rock explosion of party hats, stabby things and good clean fun)
- Cartographer (a loving power-pop cannon blast to your friendly face)
And there you go.
Hope to see you there…
